"It's fun and you get to meet and talk to your friends. It also keeps you fit and helps the environment."
(Fred, aged 8, Ewell)
"You can walk, cycle or use your scooter and that helps to keep you fit. I like using my bike best of all because I can practise cycling on the way to school."
(Jasmin, aged 7, Reigate)

The coveted Golden Boot TrophyTo Win The Golden Boot Trophy!

There is a "baseline" day in May, when pupils record how they normally travel. Then in June the Challenge begins. Schools can participate for any number of school days in June they want to - some schools do all the days, some run the Challenge for whole week, some one day a week for the month.

Classes record their travel onto their own class web page. The Golden Boot Trophy is awarded to the class (or classes) with the best green score! This can be the highest green score or the greatest change, or both - it's up to the school.

"Walking gives you lots of energy and it is fun being with your friends. I like writing about my journey in my walking bus diary."
(Romilly, aged 6, Hinchley Wood)
"Walking helps you to get fit, gives you more energy and it is better for the environment. It is also good to meet up with your friends on the way to school."
(Sebastian, aged 11, Caterham)
